Hi! I was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria - a beutiful town in the centre of the country. I lived there until I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2016 and shortly after that I moved to live England. Here I started a career different from working with computers and became an engineer who is very passionate about electrics and electronics. I started working within the crop storage industry where the climate control in the buildings where the products are stored is the most important thing and everything is controlled via PLC controllers. I would describe myself as a hardworking, dedicated and ambitious person but I always try to find the balance between work and life. I have gone trough many challenges and failures and that has helped me to develop my skills and become a good problem solver. In my day to day life I always try to push myself forward, improve and learn new things. I also never left behind the computer programming and I still like to do Web Developing in my free time.

Experience

Junior After Sales Engineer

Magnus Marine

The company is specialized in design and manufacturing shore to ship power converters in the superyacht industry. Our systems use rectifiers and inverters to convert the dock’s grid supply and make sure there is constant and undisturbed power feeding the ship’s sensitive electronics equipment as well as all the other important systems which are needed when in dock. The converters ensure protection to the ship’s electronics from power surges or unstable grid power and can use any supply from around the world without worrying about the voltage or frequency difference.
My role as an After Sales Engineer is to visit different sites and commission installations of our shore power converters as well as servicing and attending breakdowns and fault-find/repair existing systems on ships. When back at our base in England I take part in pioneering future product improvements and the testing process of the converters before they are shipped to our customers across the world. Some of my day to day duties are:

  • Testing and comissioning shore power converters
  • Servicing, warranty work and fault-finding breakdowns on existing systems
  • Writing documentation and test reports after comissioning
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics

This is where my passion about electrics started. I joined without any knowledge within the industry and developed my skills with the years of experience. Today I have experience with RDM controllers and electrics installations and RDM PLC programming. I learned to be able to follow schedules and to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. I became very well organized, tidy worker who fulfil his duties perfectly. Good team player and work as well under my own initiative. In the last 3 years I also became part of the team who represents the company at different exhibitions. This helped me to develop great communication skills and to be able to talk with customers in a professional way and always bring a good customer service. Some of my day to day duties are:

  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
  • Inspecting installations and ensuring that they are completed to the company's standarts
  • Ensure that installed units are in line with customer needs and safety standards
  • Summarise data and report on test results, providing customers with training and aftersale support

Interests

Apart from being an engineer and doing web developing, I enjoy most of my time being outdoors and having fun. When I was around 15 years old I started playing American pool (9 ball) and I still love and play the game. I am also always been very passioned about music and mainly Electronic Dance Music. When I am indoors I spend a lot of time listening and trying to find new music gems for my records archive. I also mix music, follow my favorite DJ's and go to many music festivals during the year.
In the winter, I am novice skier and I love going back to my home country for skiing. During the warmer months I like spending time on the beach and enjoy the sun.
